Deciding on LED Floodlights
Posted on December 28, 2011
There is a wide array of options to choose from when it comes time to replace a broken or failing floodlight on your property, but one that is all too often overlooked is that of LED floodlights. Most consumers are not aware of how prolific light-emitting diode technology has become, and scoff at the idea of replacing the lighting in their home with the futuristic bulbs.
In reality, LED bulbs have been used widely and effectively in thousands of different industries and products. The only reason you didn’t see LED solutions next to the regular bulbs at the hardware store was because it remained too expensive for companies to produce as well as for consumers to buy. Now, however, advances have been made that have completely changed that.
You can purchase an LED bulb for anywhere between thirty and fifty dollars, depending on what it is designed to do. Floodlights are obviously going to be more expensive than a bulb for a lamp, but compared to their incandescent counterparts, they really are not that much more. Their efficiency easily makes up for their initial cost. You’ll see this over time in your energy bills.
Another positive characteristic of LED is their ability to slowly fade over time instead of suddenly dying out like older bulbs. You hate it when a light suddenly burns out and there are no replacements on hand. Once you start to notice an LED light losing its brightness, you have plenty of time to call your vendor and order a replacement before the darkness overtakes you.
